Terms & Conditions
General Information
All RICK HINDERER KNIVES products are guaranteed against material defects and workmanship, and they carry a life time warranty. Our guarantee is void if the knife has been abused beyond normal wear and tear, or used beyond what are considered normal parameters for the tool. If you do have a problem with your knife, it will be left up to us whether to repair or replace damaged or defective items.
All RICK HINDERER KNIVES products carry a limited warranty for the serviceable lifetime of the product. We guarantee our knives, pens and tools against manufacturing defects in materials, construction and to perform as advertised when maintained and used properly. Our Warranty does not cover normal signs of wear, rust, damage or breakage due to improper use, improper modification, or lack of maintenance. We cannot cover lost fasteners or hardware under warranty, but we do sell those parts. Any product we determine to be defective will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. To receive warranty repair or replacement, the owner must send the product to us to be evaluated. No other warranties are implied or expressed other than what is specifically stated here. Please first complete the contact us form here to begin the warranty claim process.
Modifying or altering the detent in the blade or lockside, the lockface itself, the blade tang, thumbstud, and lockbar cutout. If modifications like these are performed on your knife they can ruin the lock up and or action of your folding knife. These modifications could render the knife unsafe.
We cannot warranty a knife that has been heat anodized with a torch. HOWEVER, we will not void your warranty for using DC current to electro-anodize your titanium parts.
You are welcome to change your knife hardware without voiding your warranty. Example: Titanium clip screws are a common upgrade, installing a set would not void your warranty. The only case that would cause a warranty issue would be using improper hardware that would cause an issue with the knife that otherwise would not be there if you had the stock Hinderer parts installed. Any item sent in for a warranty repair with aftermarket parts and accessories will be returned upon payment of any shipping costs occurred to the company.
If you have your bevels reground by someone else, we will not void your warranty unless the grind has a direct impact on the problem with your knife. For instance, if you had someone grind the tang to change the lock up and a problem with the lock occurred, if correctable, there would be a cost associated to fix the problem caused by someone else.
If we determine that it is something other than a defect in workmanship or materials, we will inform you if the product can be repaired and your cost. If your knife has been abused or has seen hard use for a long period of time, it is possible that the useful life of the product has been exceeded.

All production parts available in a standard stainless steel hardware kit as well as filler tabs and pocket clips are available for individual sale through the hardware section of the website. Liners and screws are available by contacting customer service via the service/warranty form.
We DO NOT sell: Folding knife blades, locksides, pivots, stop pins, or thumbstuds. If your knife requires one of these parts contact us for service. Blades and locksides are only available for warranty claims and cannot be purchased to replace if the part has extended past their lifetime.
Minimal care is all that is required to insure the maximum potential from your knife. Cleaning your knife periodically along with lubrication with a light oil is all that is needed, especially after exposure to salt water or an acidic environment.
We use premium stainless cutlery steels in all of our knives. Stainless steel provides outstanding edge retention and corrosion resistance, but can rust if not cared for. It is possible for rust to form when your knife is used in or around salt water, exposed to moisture, or simply neglected. If exposed to salt water, thoroughly rinse the knife with fresh water, and then dry completely and apply a light coat of oil to all steel parts. It is a good idea to regularly inspect the interior of the knife for dirt and grime. Clean inside the handle with a Q-Tip and water with a small amount of detergent or mild soap. Rinse everything thoroughly, dry the knife inside and out and oil all of the steel components. A couple drops of lubricant around the pivot will slick up the action nicely.

A sharp knife is a happy knife, and sharp knives makes cutting safer and easier. You should maintain your knifes edge regularly, the more it is used and the duller the edge becomes the more difficult it is to sharpen. We do not promote one particular method or sharpening system, but there are numerous available.
We do offer sharpening as a service, the cost is $15 and that includes return shipping in the USA, please use our warranty/service form to send in your knife for sharpening.
RICK HINDERER KNIVES designs are increasingly being copied by unscrupulous foreign manufacturers and we feel we have a major role in protecting our customers from knockoffs.
Counterfeit products strangle innovation, create unfair competition, they do economic harm to businesses, and of course they mislead consumers into purchasing poorly made, cheaply priced fakes. These substandard built products, especially knives can be a safety hazard. If you believe you have purchased a fake Hinderer, feel free to submit photos to customer service and we will do our best to identify the item’s legitimacy.
If you receive a damaged or incorrect item please contact us within 5 days of receipt for cost free and headache free resolution. We will offer to repair or replace the item at no cost to you if we are contacted within the allotted time.
We do not refund shipping charges on multiple orders placed through our website on the same day, or different days. We ask that before you submit your order to be sure that you have all of the items you would like to purchase in your cart to prevent you from incurring multiple shipment charges.
We reserve the right to limit orders to one knife/item per order and refund when multiple knives are purchased or multiple orders are placed.
We will no longer honor "after the fact" combine order/refund shipping requests. All combine shipping coupon codes will be provided in the order confirmation email. This code was intended to allow customers to go back and shop for any merchandise or additional accessory upon the purchase of any "hot item" that they believed would not be available after searching the site for any additional items and the code afforded them the freedom to look around the site afterwards.

Rick Hinderer Knives offers blade replacements. All scenarios will treated on a case by case basis and more details can be received from emailing customer service.
Important Blade Replacement Notice
Blade replacements are a service, not a blade purchase.
When a blade replacement is approved and completed, the original blade is permanently removed from service and scrapped. The original blade will not be returned, and replacement blades are not sold or shipped separately.
By requesting a blade replacement, you authorize the installation of a new blade and acknowledge that the original blade is no longer serviceable and will not be returned.
